Absolute Elegance

This elegant bathroom features in my book, New Vintage, and featured in a profile piece on me in this month’s issue of Luxury Home Design – though it was incorrectly captioned in the magazine as being designed by me. In fact it was cleverly designed by French-born Brisbane-based designer, Nadia Aber-Griffith – I think it’s the sheer curtain in lieu of a door and the black and white free-standing drawers that make it so deliciously luxurious…

Bathroom Bling

This luxurious ensuite belongs to a client of mine – I really just wanted to share how we designed the cabinets – as it’s the little touches that take a room from lovely to luxe.

Originally, plain mirrored cabinets were scheduled to be installed but instead we sourced these gorgeous ornate mirrors and had the cabinetmaker attach them to the cabinet door (he removed the backs of the mirrors first). Effectively, the mirrors are now the cabinet doors. They are only recessed into the wall cavity far enough to fit one row of products, which is really all you need, and which keeps the mirror looking like a mirror rather than a cupboard.

The ornate mirrors, along with the vintage chandelier and the marble benchtops are what really adds a sense of luxury to this white room.
